Carpathians is the unique mountain range stretching over  200 000 km2 with global importance. Ecologically, it is a very sensitive region providing space for many endemic species. It is a European stronghold for large carnivors such as lynx, wolf and bear. It is in this region where traditional ways of life are still practiced and preserved.

Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians entered into force in 2006. Since the beginning, Protocol on Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological and Landscape Diversity was signed, and we take an active part in its implementation.
